How many of ya’ out there are having a tough time staying focused and motivated in your online business?
Yeah we all know at first it’s easy. I mean you join a brand new network marketing company, you have brand new websites, you learn some kick-butt marketing strategies and you’re ready to go! Man you’re ready. You’ve envisioned yourself as a millionaire and you can almost taste the success. You know it won’t be easy, but that doesn’t matter to you because you’re ready!
Then 3 to 6 months down the line your once new marketing strategies don’t seem to be working. You’ve been blogging for the last 6 months, yet you still aren’t getting more than 3 or 4 leads per day. You’ve been chatting it up on social media sites like facebook for what seems like an eternity, but you still only have 1 or 2 people in your downline.
And this is when it gets tough! You’re starting to have second thoughts. Maybe you’re just not cut out for this business. Maybe the people that are successful just got lucky. Maybe all of this isn’t even worth it. I mean you should be filthy rich by now, but success still seems light years away.
That is the time that 97% of people in this business will quit. The average network marketer only lasts 93 days and it’s because they feel the exact way I just explained.
Well let me tell you that even the famous network marketers now at one point or another had these thoughts, felt the way you feel right now, and wanted to quit, but here’s the thing: THEY DIDN’T! That’s the difference between the quitters and the winners. The winners just didn’t quit when the going got tough.
So I’m going to list 5 exercises that you should do every single morning to stay motivated and focused on your goals because let me tell you, your goals are worth it! Freedom is worth every single sacrifice that you have to make right now even if it doesn’t always seem like it.
Number 1: First of all every morning right when you wake up you need to just take a second and breathe. You need to realize that every great success has had their backs against the wall at one time. So the more you feel pushed to succeed, the greater your odds are of ever getting there. Greatness comes out of those whose backs are against a wall. Your breakthrough is just around the corner and all you have to do to get it is stay in the game.
Thinking this way when you wake up should start your day off right, and get you fired up a bit : ).
Number 2: After you breathe in and out, take about 5 to 10 minutes to sit there and dream. We do this for two reasons. First the thing that you think about most is naturally going to be attracted to you. If you’re thinking about taking that cruise, or buying that brand new car, and really feel how you would feel after you have those things, the odds of you getting it go up 100%.
The second reason is because we are entrepreneurs. We don’t have bosses breathing down our back to get work done, so it’s extremely easy to lose focus during the day. The reason why most people fail in this business is simply because they spend ALL of their time dreaming about being great, and NONE of their time actually doing what’s needed to get there. They never take action. They don’t get anything done because thinking about being great is a heck of a lot easier than actually being great. You can’t let this happen to you.
So it’s always best to get all of your dreaming done first thing in the morning to get it out of your system and ready to do what’s needed of you.
Number 3: Write out your day’s to-do-list. I usually do this the night before, but first thing in the morning will work just fine. Once again this is for the purpose of staying focused. Mike D always said the difference between 7 figure earners and everyone else is focus and determination. He said what makes him different than most people is his ability to stay focused on one task for a long period of time. And I agree with his statements 100%.
The easiest way to stay focused on one task for a long period of time is to take it one day at a time. Don’t think about it like “ohhh I’m going to have to work on this one thing for the next 6 months and I’m already tired of it.” That kind of thinking is all you need to get your day off to a terrible start.
So write out your to-do-list for that day and that day only and just take it one day at a time, and before you know you’ll be at your goal.
Another big reason is because a lot of people have pauses during their day where they don’t really know what to do next which is wasted time and wasted money, and just you having a list of everything that needs to be done will solve that problem once and for all.
And make sure you start your day off with the easiest tasks on the list. That way you’ll get into a groove and the tougher tasks will seem that much easier.
Number 4: This is the one thing that you really have the freedom to customize. After you have your to-do-list ready to go it’s time for you to do that one thing that gets just pumped up for the day.
Everyone should have at least one thing.
What I do is go to youtube and listen to some up lifting songs. Now I’m not a fan of listening to music CD’s in your car because the time that you spend in your car HAS to be spent learning, especially if you have a big commute to and from work every day. You should always have a tape or CD in your car that’s making you smarter, whether it is about network marketing, online marketing, the economy, money, psychology, selling, closing. The topic doesn’t matter, but please don’t waste that time every single day.
However, I don’t mind you listening to one or two up-beat “happy” songs that will put you in a good mood for the day, but then again your thing doesn’t have to be the same as mine.
Some people like reading their favorite up-lifting book for 5 or 10 minutes. Some people just like to spend a couple of extra minutes with their thoughts. Some people like to go for a real short jog. Whatever lifts you up and gets you’re day started off right is the thing you need to do in this spot.
And remember these four tasks should take no longer than 30 minutes. You shouldn’t spend longer than 30 minutes getting ready for your day, besides your shower and all that of course. Because if you take longer than that, you might start procrastinating and a bunch of other junk might ruin your entire day.
Number 4.5: This is for the people that don’t have a “job” and have their entire day to work on their home business. When you take breaks, make sure they are productive. Make sure they get your blood pumping and your mind moving. You should NEVER ever take TV breaks. A TV break will numb your mind, and it’s extremely hard to get back into the flow of things when your show gets over. Trust me, I love TV, I always have, but I just can’t watch it like I use to because it causes me to procrastinate.
If you are known to procrastinate, you need to find the source of your procrastination and avoid it completely! Which is what had I to do with TV.
Number 5: Get started! I know how it is. I’m a full time entrepreneur. I know how it’s real easy to get out of bed in the morning and dig into my comfy couch for hours on end. But I haven’t been full time forever either, so I know how easy it can be to get home from a tough day at work and want to just relax. Trust me I get it.
But you HAVE to get to work. You have to spend your day working on money making tasks. Once your to do list is done, get it done! You do not go to bed at night until every single thing on that list is crossed out.
If you can handle all of this every single day, it won’t be hard one bit to stay motivated and you’ll see success before you know it.
